About Me
I graduated from Seton Hall University with a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. After my internship, I worked in School Based Counseling where I worked in schools throughout Somerset and Middlesex County. My supervisor during my internship was trained in play therapy, and she inspired me to learn more and utilize this approach for my work with children. I then obtained my license as a Professional Counselor in NJ. In the fall of 2007, I began working in an urban mental health outpatient program. I was also the Cultural Competency Trainer there, which further expanded my knowledge and appreciation of cultures, and how this interplays in treatment. The experience of being in an urban outpatient setting also brought me to a fuller understanding of severe mental illness, unlike what I was able to capture in school-based counseling. At that point, I became licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist, and I am a NJ Certified School Counselor as well.
